Kelly McTavish, Qld Farming Animal Welfare & Compliance, Ingham’s Group Limited
Kelly McTavish is from Ingham’s Enterprises Pty Ltd, Ingham’s is one of Australia’s largest Chicken Meat Companies, Ingham’s is a vertically integrated company that is now 101 years young.
Kelly has worked with Ingham’s farming for almost 20 years (she started really young), with her current role primary focusing on Animal Welfare & Compliance.
During Kelly’s time at Ingham’s she has covered all aspects of chicken farming, though her primary focus and passion has always been in the Broiler Fields with the Meat Chicken Production.
Kelly works closely with the farmers/growers and all other people on the ground with direct contact with live birds to ensure that the health and welfare of the bird is always the primary focus. Kelly is a direct link between external third parties/auditors and our farmers/growers, majority of her time is spent obtaining and maintain all the required certifications for each farms.
Kelly’s love of animals started from an early age, growing up with a variety of animals on a small acreage block north of Brisbane. Kelly continued this love of animals into a career by going on to study a Bachelor of Applied Science at University of QLD Gatton Campus.
Passion and pursuit for furthering her knowledge in the field of Animal Welfare has seen Kelly continue her studies and obtain Animal Welfare Certifications in the USA – PAACO (Professional Animal Auditors Certification Organisation) & more recently UK – Bristol University (AWO) Animal Welfare Officer Certification & (PWO) Poultry Welfare Officer Certification.
Kelly’s passion is the birds, Kelly has come to understand that the best way to help the birds is to work with the people.
