Horses for Courses gives Bush Kids

‘SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO’

Covid19 has seen people around the world practicing social isolation through physical distancing and although this has been incredibly difficult for many people to endure, it has been an unprecedented look into the lives of families who live in geographic isolation every day!

Horses for Courses for Bush Kids raises awareness of issues facing Rural and Remote Families through programs and projects directly benefiting Aussie Bush Kids. Each year the volunteer based organisation puts their heart and soul into organising an outback trail ride for horse enthusiast from right across Australia.

2020 was looking pretty grim with all sports being banned right across Australia due to the physical distance rules. Horse trail riding, by its very nature is a physical distancing sport, but it was included in restrictions too.

‘We have light at the end of the tunnel now with The Northern Territory lifting restrictions on biosecurity zones and national parks from June 5.’ Says Horses for Courses managing director Tiani Cook, ‘we are so excited to let people know this year’s ride will go ahead. There was a time when every sporting and community event was cancelling including the iconic Alice Springs Masters Games, but we’re glad we hung out with our decision and now we’re all systems go!’

Tiani’s hopeful the border restrictions will also lift by October so interstate riders who have been voicing their interest, will be able to join in. ‘We’re still a few months out so hopefully interstate horse riders will get an opportunity to come along. We’ve had lots of riders travel to Central Australia over the last few years, so fingers crossed the 2020 Horses for Courses Ride for Bush Kids will give everyone something to look forward to.’

The Horses for Courses trail ride will take place through the Magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, 4-9 October 2020.
